Before Your Tattoo

First tattoo? Here's what to do before your appointment.

Eat Well

Make sure to eat a good meal before your appointment. Bring snacks and water to keep your energy up during longer sessions. Low blood sugar can make you feel faint.

No Alcohol

Avoid drinking alcohol for at least 24 hours before your tattoo. Alcohol thins your blood, which can cause excessive bleeding and affect the quality of your tattoo.

Avoid Painkillers

Don't take aspirin, ibuprofen, or other blood-thinning painkillers before your session. These can increase bleeding and affect the tattoo process.

Stay Hydrated

Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment. Well-hydrated skin takes ink better and heals faster.

Get Rest

Get a good night's sleep. You'll handle it better and heal faster.

Aftercare Instructions

Follow these steps and your tattoo will heal right.

1

Keep the Wrap On

Leave the initial second skin wrap on for 3-5 days unless instructed otherwise by your artist.

2

Wash Gently

After removing the wrap, wash your tattoo gently with lukewarm water and unscented soap. Pat dry with a clean paper towel.

3

Moisturize

Apply a thin layer of the aftercare lotion 2-3 times a day. Don't overdo it.

4

Don't Scratch

Your tattoo will itch as it heals. Don't scratch or pick at it! This can damage the tattoo and cause infection.

5

Avoid Water & Sun

No swimming, hot tubs, or prolonged sun exposure for at least 2-3 weeks. Apply sunscreen to healed tattoos to prevent fading.
